Breathe Right And Stay Fit!There is no doubt that exercise is good for health and everyone needs to exercise in order to stay fit and healthy. It is wonderful if you can go to the gym but most people don’t like to. Similar benefits can be achieved without effort by concentrating on your breathing. Breathing is what keeps us alive but we are risking our health through improper breathing. Let us understand what breathing exercises are and how they can help us. Most of us are shallow breathers and we do not take full advantage of our breath. Proper breathing involves more than just filling up the lungs with air. Your diaphragm should also move and allow your lungs to expand to full capacity. A good indication of the diaphragm moving is to see if your stomach is moving in and out when you breathe. You can perform a test on yourself and see if this is happening or ask someone else to watch you breathe. This will tell you if you are breathing deep or not and studies reveal that more than 90% of people don’t. When we breathe, we fill our lungs with oxygen and this oxygen is picked up by the blood and carried to the heart. This oxygen is fuel for the body and helps in several ways. With improper breathing, the body is deprived of oxygen and the body will not function up to its mark and this in turn makes it difficult to stay in shape. By concentrating on breathing and learning good breathing techniques, it is possible to improve our health. How can we do this? One of the best ways of making sure you are breathing properly is take take out some time in your busy schedule and do some deep breathing exercises. One form of deep breathing can be done through yoga. This will help take in the required amount of oxygen into the body and boost metabolism, keeping you healthy. Once this is done on a regular basis by teaching yourself proper breathing techniques, it will soon become second nature for you. Everything can be accomplished through practice and this is no different. It is in our hands to keep ourselves fit and healthy by taking care of these small but very important things.
